17th century
1613 - The Parish Bastion was built in the south-east corner of the fortifications.
1620 - Nový Jičín was raised to a Royal Town by King Frederick, Elector Palatine.
1621 - The battle of Nový Jičín (Spanish troops of the Imperial Catholic Habsburg garrison against the Protestant army of Margrave John George of Krnov).
1624 - Nový Jičín lost its freedoms and became a subject of the Olomouc Jesuits.
1630 - The Hatter’s Guild was established, plague at the end of the 17th and beginning of the 18th century.

- In 1620 he promoted the city to a royal city.
Jan Jiří Krnovský
Born: 16.12.1577 (Wolmirstedt)
Death: 2.3.1624 (Levoča)
- Protestant fighter.
- After the Battle of White Mountain, Nový Jičín was occupied by imperial troops in May 1621. In July of the same year, however, Jan Jiří Krnovský and his state army came to the town, defeated the walls, set the town on fire and the imperial army was forced to leave the town through the Upper Gate.
