The church stands on the site of an old wooden church in the Rychaltice part of Hukvaldy. It was built between 1726 and 1729 as a small two-tower basilica. It was consecrated on 5 August 1742 in honour of St. Nicholas. In the presbytery there are four statues of saints Benedict, Martin, Valentin and Blažej in niches. The painting by an unknown artist, which is located on the main altar, represents St. Nicholas - the patron saint of the church. At Christmas, a manger is placed on the steps in front of the side altar of St. Wenceslas.
