The Plague Column can be found on the western side of Peace Square. On its top is an early Baroque sculpture dating from 1686. The column of simple non-classical shapes is an urban element forming part of the sculptural decoration of the square. On a high prismatic base, carried by four angels, is a column with a statue of the Virgin Mary and Child Jesus. A Madonna on a crescent moon with the attributes of a scepter, a crown and a circle of stars is holding a baby Jesus with an apple in her left hand.
