Cultural Monument Register No. ÚSKP 40427/8-1628
The Baroque sculpture was erected after the plague epidemic had subsided in 1715 by the then owner of the Starojice manor, Antonín, free lord Zeno of Dannhausen. St. Roch and Sebastian, the protectors of the plague, stand on Tuscan columns, between which is a pedestal with a commemorative plaque. In the middle of the pedestal is the coat of arms of the free lords of Zeno of Dannhausen, on the sides are the emblems of Starý Jičín and the village of Loučka.
Legend has it that the monument was erected as a reminder of the fact that in the 18th century, when the whole of Austria-Hungary was plagued by a plague epidemic that did not escape Nové Jičín, neighbouring Starý Jičín was not affected. The people of Starojice did not have faulty food, but the people of Nový Jičín did, and so they bought it from Starojice. The trade took place on the border between the municipalities, i.e. on the place where this plague monument was later built. On the borders of the villages there were containers of vinegar, into which the Novojičín people threw their money bags, because people believed that vinegar worked as a good disinfectant. The old people took out the bags, counted the money and in return threw a bag of food to the Novojičín people. Both parties were satisfied and went home with what they had bought.
