Statue of St. Ignatius of Loyola
Address: K Nemocnici 187 (near the Holy Trinity Church), 741 01 Nový Jičín
Cultural Monument Register No. ÚSKP 38548/8-2090
The stone statue of St. Ignatius of Loyola, originally mounted on a high prismatic graduated pedestal with rectangular corners, lateral volutes and a convexly turned out front part with a cartouche with an inscription, stood until 2003 by the southern wall of the Holy Trinity Church in Nový Jičín. It was moved there during the 19th century. In 2003, it was decided to move it to the lapidarium of the Museum of Nový Jičín due to the general deterioration of the stone material. At present, a copy of the statue of St. Ignatius of Loyola , including the pedestal, made by the academic sculptor Miroslav Machala, is located at the above-mentioned place - near the Holy Trinity Church. The original stone statue of the saint is badly damaged by weathering and also mechanically damaged: part of the saint's robe, the right arm, two fingers of the left hand, the right part of the plinth and half of the book are broken off. The figure of St Ignatius of Loyola is dressed in flowing robes, holding an open book in his hands, his head slightly bowed and his gaze directed towards the sky.
