Tourist information center Of Nový Jičín

An unconventional concept of a rest area was created in the clearing at Skalka, which was left after the felling of trees infected by bark beetle. A total of 3,750 perennials and 30 trees were planted in the new forest area. The walking trail is entered through a stone gate in the centre of which four trees are planted to symbolise the four seasons. The central motif consists of twelve stops along a spiral path. Each of them is dedicated to one sign of the zodiac, from the Capricorn to the Sagittarius. Associated with each sign are certain types of flowers and trees that are planted around the resting places. The route is also lined with descriptive signs and plaques bearing the symbols of the signs.

This unique work of art is the result of a project by one of the most important Czech landscape and garden architects, Ívar Otruba.
